“If you’re looking to jerk some tears, traditional country artist Craig Gerdes will have you weeping like a steel guitar on this well-written ode of country heartbreak.”

“...stone-cold country heartbreaker.”

After the release of our Smokin, Drinkin & Gamblin album in 2018, I had several people reach out to me wanting more of those “hurtin” country songs.

So, I went back through songs I had written but never recorded & came across this song.

I thought it fit the “hurtin” part we were looking for, so I reached out to my old friend Jim Vest to produce it. You’ll probably remember Jim playing pedal steel on all of the classic Johnny Paycheck & Vern Gosdin hits & he also played on most of my Smokin, Drinkin & Gamblin album, which includes our remake of the 1977 hit “Slide Off Of Your Satin Sheets.”

When you hear the crying pedal steel intro & the opening line “It’s Over,” you are not quite sure what is over? But you know it is probably not going to be good.

So, I hope this one takes you where you need to go when you need to hit in all those “hurtin” places...
